DEMONS
The Demons are spawns of chaos and children of destruction that can take many forms, both material and immaterial ones. Dominating weak minds and seducing worthy ones with promises of power, they often depend on mortal servants to summon them into the world in corporeal form. Demonic lords possess great eldritch might that they can lend to those who earned their favor. That is why, despite all the dangers of such servitude and the threat of being executed by their enemies, their cults never have shortage of new followers. Practicing blood sacrifices and forbidden magic, they have to hide in underground hideouts or secluded places until they become strong enough to openly manifest their true power.
For Demons, the path that leads to greater power is the one that should be favored. If that means sacrificing followers that are no longer needed, so be it, they served their purpose. Being able to summon swarms of smaller minions and huge towering monstrosities, they can surprise their opponents with strategies they least expected to face. Corporeal threats are not the only things the enemies of demons should fear, as their own warriors and their own magic can be turned against them.
When playing as Demons, it is important to identify and seize opportunities. Don't become attached to your followers, they are mere tools that can be used to achieve victory in any way you deem appropriate. If sacrificing them brings you into a better position, don't hesitate to go for it. Even the health of your own hero is not important, as long as the enemy falls first.
When playing against Demons, be careful and try to identify their next move based on their previous strategy. Sometimes, they can overestimate their power and put themselves into a dangerous position. When that happens, be sure to punish them. If they dedicated a lot of resources to a single purpose, efficiently eliminating that threat can win you the game. If their hero sacrificed too much health to try and gain an advantage, a quick strike or an unexpected spell can bring them to a fall.
Demons favor the following mechanics:
-
Summoning minions from their deck, getting new servants to fight for them
-
Sacrificing minions and health of their hero, gaining benefits
-
Gaining control of enemy minions and spell cards, turning them against their owner
-
Burning own and enemy cards, getting advantage or thwarting enemy plans
-
Growing minions, empowering them with specific actions or over time
-
Intimidation, preventing weaker enemy minions from attacking your own
-
Overwhelm, letting huge and powerful minions deal excess damage to the enemy hero
Demon factions:
-
Cult of the Burning Dusk is a secret order of warlocks and demon worshipers that consists of numerous covens all across the known lands. Driven by the lust for power and even more demonic boons, cultists practice blood sacrifices of both innocents and their former comrades that displeased their masters. Filled with the eldritch power of dark fires and guarded by enslaved and possessed warriors, demonologists are formidable spellcasters that can decimate their enemies from afar.
-
Swarms of Hellions consist of the smallest and weakest of demons that are easiest to summon. Cowardly but cruel, these imps usually fight in groups and can quickly overwhelm the enemies of their masters with sheer numbers.
-
Legions of Hell are the most bloodthirsty and fierce of demonic warriors. Crushing their foes with the brute force of their blows, these harbingers of ruin enjoy every second of carnage they have. Each of them strong and ruthless, together they become an unstoppable force of destruction.
-
Lords of Chaos are mighty demons that possess immense mental and eldritch power. Commanding the dark flames of hell, they can burn the very fabric of reality.
-
Masters of Pleasure are succubi and incubi that indulge in all sorts of unnatural delights. Savoring both love and agony of their victims, they seduce and dominate the minds of mortals, tricking them to do their bidding and taking pleasure in their suffering.
