HIGH ELVES
The High Elves are a noble race that values life and harmony. Having the most advanced and sophisticated culture among the races of the known world, they are masters of all arts martial and magical and always excel at what they do. The best mages, archers and weaponmasters come from their ranks. However, the Elves are few in number and still fewer choose to leave their fortified citadels of white stone to wander the mortal world.
For High Elves, every warrior is valuable. Every loss is the one they cannot afford. Having gained a foothold on the battlefield, they protect their frontline with defensive spells and rain arrows and magic upon their foes.
When playing as High Elves, gaining initiative is very important, as your mages and archers are very vulnerable when caught off-guard. On the other hand, when they have the ability to shoot down the enemy minions as soon as they appear, your ranged units can easily keep the opponent off the battlefield. Armored elven knights can serve as a frontline and defend their more fragile friends from enemy attacks. When fighting against enemy sorcerers that have access to deadly spells, it is important to protect your units with magic wards and shields, as a ward will deflect the first enemy spell and a shield will deflect the first enemy strike that would land on the warrior.
When playing against High Elves, it is important to remember that they can be easily outnumbered. Even their most skilled warriors can be overwhelmed by numerous foes and every warrior that falls brings you closer to victory, as their reinforcements are very limited. Their powerful archers and mages are vulnerable to cavalry and other units that can attack immediately, as well as ones that hide until they get the opportunity to strike. Their wards and shields dissipate after protecting their bearer once, so you can always save your most potent spells for the moment when they are vulnerable.
High Elves favor the following mechanics:
-
Ranged attacks, letting them strike without being hit in return
-
Armor, reducing the damage they take
-
Guardians, keeping their fragile backlines safe from enemy attacks
-
Healing, letting their warriors recover from damage they could have taken
-
Protective and empowering spells, making them ready to face the most dangerous foes
-
Mana acceleration, getting ready to deploy more powerful units earlier
-
Offensive magic, annihilating enemy minions before they get a chance to attack
High Elven factions:
-
Defenders of the White Cities are powerful warriors and weaponmasters that are always ready to stand against any foes that would endanger their lands or their friends. Masters of melee combat, they prefer to fight with blades and spears.
-
The Silver Guard is the elite that protects sites that are most sacred to the Elves, as well as the Council of the Firstborne itself. Elven knights clad in enchanted shining armor, they are always there to defend the others against onslaughts of enemies with their shields and their swords.
-
Wardens of the Woods are travelers and waywatchers that wander the elven lands. Masterful archers and scouts, they prefer to wield bows and strike down the enemy before they get the chance to react.
-
Keepers of the Azure Tower are some of the most powerful mages in the known world. Masters of the arcane arts, they are capable of manipulating magical forces to gain an advantage against their opponents or outright burn them down with fire or pure energy.
-
The Temple of Eternal Purity is home to mages that devote their talents to studies of light and harmony. There is no affliction or wound they wouldn't be able to cure. Weaving the light and arcane, they excel at healing and protecting their allies.
